When you look in your closet, who do you see?
I myself have so many clothes. Clothing evokes within me the euphoria of a past life. It captures moments and holds memories. A life before that was filled with silly gossip, drinking sparkly cocktails, and wearing impossibly high heels. Sometimes I think I need to Marie Kondo my closet, but it still sparks so much JOY. So I decided to save it more for my darling daughter, shoes (praying they will fit her one day) an arsenal of handbags, and precious accessories that I lovingly saved up for… There’s an entire Missoni knit collection, each piece I can look back and say memories like “the first time I went to dinner with your father was in that top”.
Funny story but we were first introduced this Korean cult kids fashion brand Airfish in Shanghai a few years ago. A local wealthy client was importing their clothes for their store, and they wanted fun and original photos for their catalogue. My daughter at the time was one of the most recognized faces in Chinese advertising. For several years she was face of the 3 most famous clothing companies based in China. Korean fashion is popular in China but since Airfish was a newer brand, they asked her to model the pieces so that buyers knew it was an established company.
the future
To me this is what Korean fashion is all about. Romantic looks mixed with effervescence, like million little bubbles lifting you up to make you smile. I remember I first fell in love with Airfish because of these pink heart overalls. Only Koreans can combine such quirky details and unexpected fabrics with femininity. I told my mom and like all Korean mom and daughter duos out there, we were inspired to collect (BUY!) more! Hence what you see that appears, my daughter has in her closet.
the present
A minitorial inspired by our background and what would be our version of the perfect birthday. Ruffles, vintage, and cakes is in our love letter to who will always be even if we are old. It will end with PS. I love you!
