Selamat datang from Miniembassy
In our previous blog post, we talked about Chinese New Year fashion, and today we’re going to dive into contemporary modern fashion for the Muslim holiday of Eid.
Multicultural Singapore
Living in multicultural Singapore has taught us to appreciate the diversity of religions and cultures, and one of the things we love about celebrating Eid is the chance to wear beautiful traditional clothes. In Southeast Asia Lebaran marks the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It’s a time for family, friends, and feasting.
Fashion with Tradition
Muslim fashion has come a long way in recent years, with designers creating stunning modern interpretations of traditional clothing. From modest dresses to chic abayas (hijabs), there are plenty of options to choose from that reflect your personal style. What we love most about Eid fashion is the opportunity to mix and match different styles and fabrics. Creating a unique look that’s both stylish and respectful of the occasion.
Malaysian STyle for men
The Malay traditional clothing worn in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Southern Thailand and parts of Indonesia (especially Sumatera and Kalimantan) is known as the Baju Melayu. The shirt worn with a sarong known as kain samping or songket and a headwear known as songkok.
glamorous feminine fashion
Traditional female dress is known as kebaya kurung. It consists of a loose-fitting kebaya blouse (which may be enhanced with brocade and embroidery). Then a long skirt both of which may be batik, or the sarung skirt made of batik. Some women wear either the jilbab (hijab) or its variant the stiffened kerudung Veil.
Celebrate Spring
Gone are the days when we used to get lovely new clothes just for Easter. Let’s take this opportunity to appreciate the diverse cultures and religions around us and enjoy wearing clothes that celebrate them.
Selamat Hari Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr) to all our Muslim friends!
