NYC Tour for MOMS
Please read part 1, to find out how to make your kids happy. Then refer to part 2 so you can do some fun window shopping or if you bribe your kids (with ice cream) treat yourself to some mommy goodies (#shoes) along the way.
These are my favourite New York City classics. The iconic places that were featured in Sex and the City, and or Gossip Girl. Combine this with the kids tour and it should take about four hours to complete and enjoy. If you want to make a day of it, add the extra stops at the Museum of Natural History or the MET.
If you ever have any other questions, please let me know! I’ll be happy to help you.
30 Rock is really a mall
At Rockefeller Center, you can find a number of fun American chain stores like Anthropologie, J. Crew, and Kate Spade. There are so many shops and restaurants. You can also go across the street to Saks Fifth Avenue (my mom’s favourite store!).
The Mecca
As you walk along uptown on 5th Ave on your way to Central Park you will see New York’s luxury and greatest goods stores like Prada, Fendi, Harry Winston, etc. This area is the MECCA for luxury goods where all the amazing big brands have the most valuable retail space in Manhattan. Unfortunately some stores like Henry Bendel have closed for good but you can see the orange ex president of the USA, his most prized possession #trumptower.
Finally right before you hit the Plaza Hotel you’ll see Bergdorf Goodman on your left side. It’s probably the most exclusive and poshest department store in all of NYC. After leaving Bergdorf’s you can enter Central Park, but I usually head over to Madison Ave.
Be Blair Waldorf
Do you all remember Gossip Girl? It featured a lot of Madison Ave. UES. I was sad that Barney’s is gone (#RIP) but so excited to visit DECIEM store! If you haven’t tried the Ordinary (as well as Hylamide and NIOD) line of products you are missing out! I just bought gifts for friends.
End
The end of your trip will be at Bloomingdale’s where the selection and prices are more diverse (and attractive) compared to Bergdorf’s. Hopefully by this time your kids have given you a chance to squeeze in a buy or two for you.
Extra…
Finally, if you have older kids or you’ve already done the Museum of Natural History, then I suggest to you the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET). My parents even took me there when I was a little kid. I remember once my mom got in trouble for taking photos of her with Degas sketches with a camera flash!
A little tip you can prep your kids by having them read this book.
