Miniguide Quarantine Survival

Hopefully you won’t need this

Tips for hotel quarantine, maybe this pandemic will be over soon enough. However for many of us you may eventually go through this depending on where you live. Quarantine has become a big part of our lives. I myself would love to be alone but for most of us it will be with your family. Recently, we’ve made an international move with strict quarantine measures. Let me advise you on what to expect.

prepare yourself

There are some efforts you should try to make before your arrival. The number of days are crucial in your planning. If you can choose your location that’s also a plus.

location tips

  1. Try to find a resident apartment versus a traditional hotel room. If there is a place to prepare some of your meals would help.
  2. Find a place that has a laundry machine, you will thank me later.
  3. The bigger the space or even a balcony will literally give you some breathing room.
  4. Make sure location has access to good food delivery and grocery delivery apps.

Unfortunately sometimes the government may pick out a place for you, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

WHat to bring

  1. Pack a lot of comfortable clothes, no one’s going to see you, so no one’s gonna care.
  2. Make sure that you find out if there’s a coffee machine. We didn’t have coffee in this place where we quarantined, and I brought an Italian style Moka esprescco maker. However the heating plate was induction, but this induction range didn’t recognize the Moka maker. I should have brought an induction plate! Instead I was lucky to have Amazon bring a French Press.
  3. Foodstuffs, since I’m talking about coffee make sure you bring coffee. For the children make sure there are good snacks. If you have kitchenette you can also bring some packaged foods.
  4. To occupy the kids I brought a couple of Lego sets, Top Model ( check them out by German company Depeche) and arts and craft supplies. You don’t want your kids glued to screens.
  5. Cleaning supplies like cleaning wipes have made this much more manageable. I even went the extra step of bringing a small vacuum cleaner. If there’s a washer machine make sure you have laundry detergent. Get those small pods that have fabric softener included.

Time Will Fly By

During this time, spoil yourself and your kids with one treat a day. Aim for the afternoon after you feel like you tackled the morning. At the end you will appreciate all the time spent together.
