Have you ever started noticing something, then seeing it every where? I feel that way about Stranger Things. I’ve become a big fan of NEtflix due to our confinement at home and although I don’t really look scifi genre. I was hooked into Stranger Things because of those 80’s nostalgia vibes.
Styling
As we now live in Europe, I see that Spanish kids fashion has become very popular. One of these power houses is Bobo Choses, which to me gives off that cool retro vibe. I also love that their clothes are unisex. When I choose clothes to shoot I try to pick pieces that can be worn by both kids, and I purchase much of the clothing so it also has to be items that the kids can wear over and over.
Location
You need to scout, and by that I mean go check out the place! Look at your surroundings, and take special consideration to the light. I always prefer natural light to artificial light. Make sure it’s a place you feel comfortable taking photos in and that the owner of the space is ok with it.
Putting it all together
This particular series of photos, I thought would work well with an arcade theme. Styling the clothes to match this retro arcade theme was easy because Bobo Choses aesthetic is similar. Usually I prefer taking photos outside, but the artificial light coming from the arcade games was perfect to this theme.
