modern parenting

An apology

I’m going to be honest with you. I have a job first and that job involve two children. If you’re like me then as a mom everyday life is juggling to keep up with them.  I feel especially if you also have an actual job.  One that you get paid monetarily for while you do all this extra, then you have my profound respect.

Priorities priorities

So it’s responsibility to make sure that these two make it to the next level, by that I guess surviving but I want them thriving. So with that I’m going to start the next series of blogs writing about my version of east meets west tiger parenting.

Living in Asia

We are back from Thailand this week to Singapore.  If you don’t know this from the United States, Asians think we slack academically.  However western kids are usually better in sports. Since we personally moved around we’ve so many aspects parenting.

American style

My own experience is that I grew up with a korean mother with a heavy focus in academic.  So I’m not sure one hundred percent if stressing books is the way to go about raising your kids.  I did what my mom told me to do, and I don’t see myself better off for it.  That’s why I try to incorporate some of American style upbringing in my children.

Make it last

What does that mean? Going forward, I tried to put my kids in more modern activities I think that they will be able to enjoy later on in life.  So often I see activities like ballet and classical music that after a certain age we no longer really use.  that’s why I try to find activities related to. Hobbies should be something that you can do your whole life versus what you do when your a kid.  They should also provide some kind of enjoyment.

coming up

Next few blogs I will post why and how I chose certain activities for my kids.
