not just the kid
Rejection in this business, I think it’s probably quite common, right? Usually only maybe one or two people are chosen so there’s always bound to be someone to who’s unhappy. I just feel so much sadness for my daughter.
not everyone can do it
You know people talk to me about modeling all time. Many people diminish it and talk to me about looks. They say stuff like my kid can do it too. Honest I think they say that to make themselves feel better. Because not every kid can do it. I know because I take the photos of a lot of kids. Most people have to be coached and they not comfortable with the camera.
just kids
I mean we are also dealing with kids. So if a child isn’t really happy, you can definitely see it through the photos. Parents not involved in modeling have a hard time to understand the business. It’s because we associate our children with an extension of themselves. Now to even get asked to do submit photos, make a self tape, and attend a casting that is also difficult and in a way is also a goal.
it’s unfair
What I’m trying to say is that I have a very sweet child. One that does stuff when you ask them to do it. She works hard and practices all the time. My daughter is somebody who really loves doing this. So what do you do when they don’t get chosen? What happens if you get rejected from the same company several times? Although they requested to see you.
stringing you along
Another aspect in this business is the rejection after being picked. Can you imagine by several companies that you get to the end of the race they express interest in you. Once we were even actually booked! This has happened several times. In your day to day life. Would you stand for this? Would you continue to put yourself up for such a cycle?
I’m not sure sometimes if it’s worth it, but not even trying… I think I regret that even more.
