International Transitions

As we kick off a new year, our family is gearing up for a major change. We are moving to a different country. For us, this isn’t a new experience; in fact, we’ve been fortunate enough to call multiple countries home due to my husband’s occupation. However, this time around, the transition feels a bit different as our children have always been enrolled in international schools following the IB or British Cambridge curricula. This move is taking us to a place where these educational systems are limited, and it’s causing us to reevaluate our approach to our kids’ education.

Navigating Online Schools

One of the biggest challenges we’re facing is the shift to online school in a country with a different academic landscape. Most international schools offer a variety of educational formats, including IB, British Cambridge, and American education. Our preference has always been the IB or British systems, as they align with our aspiration for our children to pursue higher education outside the USA. However, our upcoming move has thrown a curveball, and we’re exploring new options, navigating through the online learning realm.

trying it out

Adding to the complexity is the fact that this move falls outside the typical transition periods for students entering new schools. We’re not only concerned about the adjustment to a new educational system but also about our kids integrating into a new social environment. It’s a lot to handle, especially for children involved in sports and entertainment, where time is a precious commodity. However, we’re optimistic that with online schooling, our kids won’t have to compromise their education for their passion. We hope we can maintain a balance between training and academics in this new chapter of our lives. It’s a leap of faith, but one we hope will open up new opportunities and experiences for our family.
