More about Maria, BK (Before KIds)
Hello, my name is Maria and I’m a 34 year old momager and entrepreneur from New Jersey. Surprisingly, my original background is in Psychology. I have a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and always had big plans of being a licensed clinical therapist.
Her MOM STORY
Once I became a mom, I decided not to go back to work, so I stayed home and took care of my daughter, Taylor. Fast foward to the time when Taylor was only 8 months old, an old friend approached me and told me I should pursue modeling for her and on a whim, I did! We have been in show business ever since (2013).
Why she wrote the book
In 2015, while pregnant with my son, Zach, out of nowhere, I had an idea to write a book, since I was already sharing my experiences with friends and family about how to get their kids into modeling. I literally had the idea, then sat down and wrote the entire ebook. Within 1 week, I had my website up and running along with the ebook for sale. The first few months was rough trying to sell it, but as time went on, the number of parents who had success as a result of reading my ebook grew and grew. I have helped so many parents in the industry and I’m forever grateful that they allowed me to help them. I’ve sold thousands of copies to date and have had great feedback about how helpful the ebook has been.
Her Advice
One major tip that I would give to new parents starting out is to never ever pay an agency a large up front fee in order to get signed. That is a huge red flag that the agency is a scam. Agencies should only get paid on commission once your child books a job. Some agencies have web hosting fees which is normal, but no agency should be asking you for 300 dollars to join! Big No No!!
More about the book
In my ebook, I have a directory of agency contacts for: NY, Fl, Atlanta, L.A., Chicago, Dallas Texas, Michigan and Ohio. I give tips on the do’s and don’ts of the business, tips for how to dress for auditions and how to avoid scams and pitfalls in the industry. My children have had much success thus far and I have learned a lot during my personal experiences with them. If interested in ordering the ebook, here is the link to access it.
