Sick Sick Sick
Something gross happened to my daughter. It was a deeply concerning incident that occurred involving my child and a stranger. It’s a harsh reality we face. Even in a “safe” country like Singapore, the fact that there are individuals out there with horrible issues, who are mentally and socially sick. But as parents, we must take action to protect our children and empower them to navigate these situations.
recognize it
It’s important to arm our kids with knowledge and awareness. We need to let them know that the suggestive look that man gave my daughter is completely unacceptable. We must teach them to trust their instincts and recognize when someone makes them feel uncomfortable or icky inside. By giving them the tools to identify these situations, we empower them to take action.
speak up
Speaking up and speaking loud is crucial. We need to encourage our children to voice their concerns, even if it feels scary or intimidating. By creating an open and supportive environment, we can help them feel safe to share their experiences with us. Communication is key in ensuring that our children understand that they have the power to protect themselves.
protect your kids
Prevention is the key. Alongside education and open communication, there are practical steps we can take. For instance, I’ve decided to purchase a small handheld alarm that my children can carry with them. With a simple push of a button, they can activate the alarm if they ever feel unsafe or in danger. It’s a proactive measure that adds an extra layer of security for their well-being.
let’s do it together
Remember, my fellow parents, we are their first line of defense. It’s our responsibility to equip our children with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to navigate a sometimes challenging world. Let’s stand together in protecting and empowering our little ones, ensuring they can grow up safe, strong, and resilient.
